Just curious if anyone here is a practitioner of this system. If so, could you briefly give some insight? Or, does anybody have any experience with this system? Share your thoughts...

Fri, November 10, 2006 - 2:17 PMHey haniff,
I've met Guru Chester (he came to my house for a small little shindig years ago- he was a friend of a friend of a friend). He's a nice guy. I was just wanting some feedback as to any students' experience and/or thoughts, etc. In the past, it's been difficult for me to track him down! He didn't have the cool website that he has now, but- all in all, I am now super-swamped in my training so I couldn't train with them if I wanted to (which I do :/... ).
Peace, ~John. -

Re: Pentjak Silat Manyang
Thu, January 4, 2007 - 10:37 PMGreetings Mr. Jon,
Sinds my name was found in this ever so interesting tribe site, by one of my assistants, I felt "slightly obligated", however more than happy to actually act as a SOURCE OF KNOWEDGE!
Please note that: (I prefer not to engage in any political tention with anyone!!!)
My main concern would be with regards to: Manyang Europa as well as Pentjak Silat Way of the Hornet USA
I have read most of what was said! and must say that:
I highly apreciate that there are SILAT scholars within this discussion that actually have done a great job with explaning what (PESILATS or PLAYERS) are all about.
Lastly, and utmost importanty, I would like to express my RESPECT and GRATITUDE for those who have contributed to this site. It`s nice to read and know that there are scholars that want to keep SILAT in the circle of discussion!
PS: UNFORTUNATELY, due to the lack of time, I am not able to respond to more of the comments!!!!! Please feel free to drop me a line so that we might be able to help those in their ever so passionate endeavors. Endeavors referring to finding a SILAT HOME :) By the way the correct title is GURU MUDA CHESTER B.MELLONIUS, CHIEF INSTRUCTOR OF: PENTJAK SILAT WAY OF THE HORNET USA (guru muda meaning I rank obviously lower than my guru!!! In our familly style "MANYANG" when given the title GURU it`s typically as well as traditionally of great importance, thus meaning many, many and many years of training.

Fri, January 5, 2007 - 9:49 AMHey Cal!
Thanks for responding! I know you're a very busy man nowadays (I've seen your recent schedule and WHEW! jam-packed!).
Ya I was in kind of a training rut a few months back, before I had found your website and what have you, and not able to attend my previous Eskrima lessons due to time constraints- I had been looking for a school. Unable to get ahold of you, I was directed to Guru Phil of Mande Muda in Stockton, CA, but... it's pretty far for me, so, I kept my search up. I ended up finding a very good Guro in Bob Manalo (Eskrima Serrada) of IESA (www.tribe-iesa.com) as well as Andrew "Limbas" Ma (Arnis De Mano & Buno) of The Garimot System (www.garimot.com).
I am still interested in training with ya for sure!, but it will have to wait until I can afford it. I have your website/contact info, and will probably be contacting you by June/July. It was nice to hear from you Cal, glad to hear your organization is growing so rapidly! I will be in touch you soon!
Til then, may this New Year bring great things for your school and your life!
Peace & Blessings,
~John.
